The deck
Every scenario, drawn in advance.
The cards your data gets dealt from.
Each card below is a pre-built scene — the designed, platonic version of a story your data might tell, drawn before any client data exists. A presentation is a sequence of cards; a consultant can lay out a company’s hypothesized story from this deck after a few conversations — and then the data decides which cards are actually true. When a card matches, “show my actual data” flips between the scene and reality.

Which way is it going? · 16 cards
Top talent is quietly leaving
Regretted attrition is past noise and compounding.
regretted-loss · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsRetention is working
Attrition is falling with statistical conviction.
retention · T1
↦ reads 33 metricsEngagement is eroding
A slow leak, not a shock — and leaks compound.
engagement · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsThe shock passed — and recovery is real
It dipped, it's climbing back; the event is behind you.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsA one-time event, not a trend
One point did this — don't re-plan around it.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsSomething changed — and it stuck
A step, not a slope: find the event at the break.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsThe hiring engine is stalling
Throughput is bleeding down while plans assume it isn't.
ta-funnel · T1
↦ reads 17 metrics{mover} is becoming a bigger share of who you are
The org's shape is tilting toward one group.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metrics{mover} is fading from the mix
A shrinking share is tomorrow's capability gap.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsYour ratings are compressing
The score distribution is narrowing cycle over cycle — the signal is dying.
performance · T1
↦ reads 18 metricsThe workforce is splitting in two
One population is pulling apart into two — a camp forming on each end.
engagement · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsNew hires are ramping slower than they used to
Early-tenure success is sliding cohort over cohort — onboarding is falling behind hiring.
onboarding · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsYou've quietly stopped promoting from within
The internal-fill rate is sliding — growth is going to the market, not your people.
development-mobility · T1
↦ reads 18 metricsWhere do we stand? · 11 cards
The system isn't differentiating
Everyone's a 3.7 — so the measure decides nothing.
measurement-health · T1
↦ reads 23 metricsA few large values are doing the talking
Report the median, or the tail runs the meeting.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsMost are fine — a tail is struggling
The story is the strugglers, not the average.
engagement · T1
↦ reads 34 metricsOne population, well-behaved
Your summary stats are trustworthy here.
measurement-health · T1
↦ reads 5 metricsPast the benchmark — and climbing
You crossed the line everyone compares against, and the trend is wrong.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsInside the line — and holding
At or better than the reference, with no adverse trend. Say so.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsBelow the market, across the board
This isn't one job out of band — it's the whole posture.
compensation · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsThe mix is holding steady
Composition is not the story — and that's a finding.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsThe organization you have isn't the one you had
Broad mix movement — re-baseline before you compare.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsA few people hold the whole network together
Collaboration is long-tailed — a handful of connectors carry the org, and they're a single point of failure.
org-networks · T1
↦ reads 29 metricsWhich group is it? · 15 cards
It's concentrated — one group stands apart
The number isn't everywhere; it's somewhere.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsA real gradient — now ask if it's pointed at value
The spread is real. Is it the right spread?
compensation · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsSome of you are over the line
The average hides who's past the reference. Name them.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsSpans are stretched thin in one corner
One unit's managers carry far more reports than the rest.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsOne unit is over-managed
One unit's spans sit far below the rest — too many layers, tiny teams.
workforce-composition · T1
↦ reads 46 metricsThe change has an address
The total moved — one component did most of the moving.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsOne condition is the binding constraint
Of capability, alignment, motivation, support — one sits far below and gates the rest.
cams · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsIt's two companies, split by manager
Teams fall into two tiers — and the line is the manager, not the work.
leadership-quality · T1
↦ reads 34 metricsOne group sits apart on a decision that should be neutral
Promotion, pay, or rating outcomes trail for one group — by enough to need an explanation.
fairness-equity · T1
↦ reads 51 metricsThere's one job family we can't close
Offer acceptance holds everywhere but one family — where the offer, not the funnel, is the problem.
offer-competitiveness · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsYour biggest source isn't your best
Hire quality steps down by channel — and spend is following volume, not quality.
quality-of-hire · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsOne exit reason towers over the rest
Departures aren't scattered across causes — one reason carries most of them.
exit-knowledge · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsWhere's the leak? · 3 cards
The leak has an address
One stage is bleeding — and fixing it has a number.
ta-funnel · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsYou're losing them at the close
The funnel works until the moment of decision.
ta-funnel · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsNo villain stage — the funnel is the funnel
Stop hunting a leak that isn't there.
ta-funnel · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsWhat moves it? · 5 cards
It tracks — the relationship is real
Y follows X, and the strength is a number.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsIt doesn't track — the premise is false
The relationship everyone assumes isn't in the data.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsIt tracks — inversely
More of one means less of the other. Check the story before acting.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsMore stops buying more
The curve flattens — find where, and stop paying past it.
cross · T1
↦ reads 148 metricsTwo clusters wearing one chart
Split it before you trust any trend line through it.
measurement-health · T1
↦ reads 5 metricsWhere is this heading? · 2 cards
On this trajectory, you breach the benchmark
Still under the line today — but the trend crosses it within a few periods if nothing changes.
regretted-loss · T1
↦ reads 16 metricsOn this pace, you miss the plan
The line is climbing — just not fast enough to reach the number by the date.
ta-funnel · T1
↦ reads 17 metricsThe deck grows by program: engagement replays, the book corpus, and live use each supply new scenarios; the catalog is the one master store.
